Ars Separatoria Acta

Organization of manuscripts

Manuscripts should be typewritten with double spacing on standard A4 or Letter format paper sheets, leaving margins of 3.5 cm on the right and left sides.

FIRST PAGE

The first page of the manuscript should contain:

  • Concise title of the paper (with no abbreviations)
  • Full names (including first name) of the authors and their affiliation(s)
  • Name and full postal address, fax number and e-mail address of the corresponding author
  • Up to 5 keywords for compiling the subject index

ABSTRACT

The next page(s) of the manuscript should contain the abstract only. It should not exceed 200-250 words, without reference to the text.

SECTIONS

Typically (except for review papers) manuscripts should be divided into the following sections:

  • Introduction: the brief description of the "state-of-art" of related field in the context of existing literature. Please indicate the innovative aspects of the paper.
  • Materials/Methods/Procedures: The information should be sufficient to enable other researchers to repeat the investigation, process, synthesis, etc. Details of procedures already published should not be repeated. For materials and equipment the name and location of manufacturer should be provided.
  • Results and Discussion: The results should be presented and commented as concisely as possible. The same data should not appear in both tables and figure.
  • Conclusions: This part should summarize the main achievements and generalize the results of investigation.
  • Acknowledgements.
  • List of symbols and abbreviations: only when exceeding 10 symbols or abb.

REFERENCES

References should be numbered sequentially in order of citation and collected in numerical order at the end of the manuscript. Titles of journals should be abbreviated according to Chemical Abstracts. Please apply the formats according to the following examples:

  • Journals:
    [1] A.B. Smith, B.A. Brown, J. Appl. Chem. Sci. 2001, 10, 100-101.
  • Books:
[2] B.J. Black, Inorganic Chemistry, Publisher Inc., New York 2001.
  • Chapter in a book:
[3] A.C. Horn, in: Organic Chemistry, A.B. Smith, B.J. Black (Eds.), Publisher Inc. New York 2001, p. 100-110.

TABLES

Tables with captions at the top and numbered with Arabic numerals should be collected at the end of the manuscript on separate sheets. Column labels should be kept as concise as possible and indicate units.

FIGURES AND LEGENDS

Diagrams and photos (and respective copies) should be submitted on separate pages at the end of the original manuscript and its copies (each figure on separate page). Numbers, symbols and labels inscribed must be large enough to be sufficient for reduction in size (not smaller than 2 mm in height after reduction). The legends corresponding with figures should be typewritten with double spacing on a separate page. Figures should be numbered with Arabic numerals in order of their appearance.

STRUCTURAL FORMULAE

Structural formulas are to be drawn in the manuscript at the appropriate position. They may be numbered.

EQUATIONS, UNITS, AND SYMBOLS

Mathematical equations should be written in the manuscript at the proper place and should be marked consecutively by Arabic numerals in parentheses (in the right side of the page). Please use the period rather than the comma as decimal point.

ELECTRONIC MANUSCRIPTS

Upon acceptance of the manuscript, authors are asked to submit the final version of the article written in one of standard word processing programs. Figures should be supplied in electronic form if possible (in addition to original printouts) in one of standard graphic formats (TIF, BMP, JPG, etc.). The detailed instructions for preparing electronic manuscripts will be send to the authors after acceptance of the manuscript for printing.

PROOFS AND REPRINTS

Author will receive one sets of proofs before final printing. Corrections should be returned promptly by fax, express mail or e-mail. Upon publication the submitting author will receive a free copy of the issue containing the article.
